Welcome to the World of Historical Railway Modelling.
To a time when railways were high technology, providing relatively cheap transport of people and their goods. Much of the early railway construction ranked among the engineering wonders of their age.
Communities took great pride in their railways, and station masters ranked with bank managers and magistrates.
|My aim is to create models that reflect that period of
railway history. Being a New Zealander, my main modelling interest is what was then the
New Zealand Government Railways.
The railway provided reliable transport for a new country, where roads were few and frequently of poor quality, often being impassable after wet weather.
With people no longer restricted by how far they or their horse could walk, an era of great expansion and economic growth followed.
