Browser Help

This site is designed to be used with a browser that implements both frames and JavaScript.

The non-frames option will give you most of the content at some loss of convenience in navigation, and slower download times. Some browser configurations may not display the complete navigation bar on the screen if you are using a screen resolution of 640*480. If this is the case you can disable display of some of the tool bars, if that is not enough then you will need to use the non-frames version.

If you are running a version 3 (or lower) browser, then you will only be offered the non-frames option.

The frames version has been tested on version 4 of both Microsoft Internet Explorer and Netscape Navigator under Windows 95 and NT 4.0.

The non-frames version should be safe under all graphical browsers. Some formatting may be lost in early browsers. It has been tested on versions 3 and 4 of both Microsoft Internet Explorer and Netscape Navigator under Windows 95 and NT 4.0. Version 3 of both browsers has also been tested under Windows 3.11. It has also been tested on Opera V3.21 under NT 4.0. It has also been tested on Navigator V1, and Explorer V2 under Windows 3.11. The Locomotives Used page causes Navigator V1 to crash. Something to do with the last column wrapping.

The main fonts used are Georgia and Verdana. These are optimised for screen display and come with Internet Explorer. They are available for both PC and Macintosh and can be obtained from the Microsoft site http://www.microsoft.com/truetype. If they are not present, then the fonts Century Schoolbook and Century Gothic    will be used, or New York and Geneva if you are using a Macintosh, or Times Roman and Helvetica under Unix. If none of these are available then the default fonts specified by your browser will be used.

If you have any problems viewing the site, or any comments on layout, especially on Macintosh or Unix which I don't have access to, then please send me an e-mail on dkinzett@paradise.net.nz
